Take an adventure through folktales, legends and myths.

I devoured the Percy Jackson series based on Greek mythology that Rick Riordan wrote and I love his Magnus Chase series based on Norse mythology even more. So I was quite excited to hear about the new Rick Riordan Presents line of middle grade books by a variety of authors that focuses on a wide variety of folktales and myths. Along with this line other authors have written books based on various mythologies, I was lucky enough to get Advance Reader Copies of the books.

The characters represent such a wide variety of cultures and places that I have fallen in love with them all! I think it is really amazing to see the diversity represented by these novels as well as female protagonists. I will say Sal & Gabi Break the Universe has probably been my favorite so far!

Next up are these three from Rick Riordan Presents.The Fire Keeper releases in September and Race to the Sun and Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky both release in 2020. 

Shock of Fate

I enjoyed this book and will be reading the next book in the series. It did take me a little bit to really get hooked on the story though.

I enjoyed Van and her growth as a heroine through the story. This is a good YA fantasy full of action, magic, magical creatures and much more. I liked the addition of unique species, like the bunfy, as well as those many readers are familiar with such as trolls and goblins.

I did find the world the author created a little confusing at times and a little hard to follow, but by the end I had a much better grasp on the world the author created.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is not just another story about magic which is what I was expecting, but it quickly deviated from the typical Harry Potter story line. This story has magic, revenge, friendship, intrigue and so much more. I did not expect to get completely pulled into this story after reading the synopsis, but I was hooked!  This story is about Crewe Chase and his journey to revenge his Uncle's death and become a great magician. There are many books about magic in the market today, however this book holds it's own through amazing characters, humor, and a great story line.  (Rockcave is definitely my favorite animal sidekick) I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next one!
